Sometime in April we reported the killing of one Joseph Kpesu in Delta State by a Nigerian Soldier for allegedly flaunting the sit-at-home order of the State Government.
According to the report, there was a misunderstanding between the deceased and the soldier before he drove off. This avoidable incidence eventually led to the death of Joseph, a young man whose wedding was around the corner.
No matter the kind of punishment the soldier got afterwards, Joseph cannot be returned to his family and loved ones.
This therefore calls on everyone of us to not challenge any armed security officer to a brawl. Remember, he has a gun and you have just your fist.
While it is unprofessional and outrightly evil for any armed officer to raise his gun at an unarmed civilian, we should all learn to tone our anger down when we are confronted or accosted by them. Do as you are told and if at any point your rights were trampled on, look for the appropriate office to channel your grievances to.
