Facebook is still not working properly, a day after the site’s biggest outage in its history.
Instagram, Facebook, Messenger and WhatsApp have all been been suffering problems for hours, and those issues appear to be ongoing.
While reports have problems have dramatically fallen since the problems yesterday, Facebook has not said that the issues have been fully fixed.
It says that certain services are still being hit by problems and that it is working to fix them.
“We are currently experiencing issues that may cause some API requests to take longer or fail unexpectedly,” an update on its platform page reads. “We are investigating the issue and working on a resolution.”
Unlike Instagram, the official Facebook account is yet to tweet that the problem had been fixed. The company had taken the unusual step of using Twitter to communicate about the outage, though suggested that updates could be limited because it was busy trying to overcome the problems.
“We’re aware that some people are currently having trouble accessing the Facebook family of apps,” its first post read. “We’re working to resolve the issue as soon as possible.”
An hour later, it denied a popular explanation that was being touted as a reason for the outage: a DDoS attack, where a service is intentionally overwhelmed with traffic to take it down. “We’re focused on working to resolve the issue as soon as possible, but can confirm that the issue is not related to a DDoS attack,” it wrote.
